Questions
What a student should know before joining.
Registration is free. The twelve weeks are exercises. A certificate is issued only when a stated programme is finished. Nothing here is advice on a private case.
Joining
- Who can join?
- LL.B. and LL.M. students, junior lawyers, and advocates. A member of the public sends a client enquiry instead of joining as a student.
- Do I need experience?
- No. The first weeks start from the limits of the role, not from a live brief.
- What will I learn?
- How a file is described, how a note is written, how an enquiry is recorded, and when to refuse. The weeks do not teach you to appear in court.
- Will I get a client matter?
- Not by joining. An advocate may assign supervised work. You still must not advise, negotiate a fee, or hold yourself out as counsel. Under the Advocates Act, 1961, only an enrolled advocate may practise.
- Is there a certificate?
- Joining alone does not issue one. A campus participation record is issued only after that programme’s stated steps are done.
- What does it cost?
- Registration on this network is free. This page does not collect a course fee.
Reviewed legal notes
Published only after a separate review. Not a private file, and not advice on facts you have not put in writing. YLA Pro Bono Legal Assistance provides preliminary legal guidance through a supervised process. AI is used as an internal assistance tool. Responses are reviewed before delivery. Submission of a query does not automatically establish an advocate-client relationship or guarantee representation. Urgent court matters and statutory deadlines require immediate attention.
